(MarieFinds) Male Circumcision - to cut or no?

We did not. Baby Boy has an uncut peen. Over the rather (surprisingly) strenuous objections of my father. AJ over at Thingamababy posted this link on the topic. Numbers are down to 55% in the US.

Thoughts? I just don't see a compelling case for it. The Lawyer struggled with the theology for a while, and finally decided that was what the whole new covenant thing was about.

INTERESTING last paragraph in the article. Hmm...

I have three boys not cut. When our first was born, we had been planning to circ, but then-- couldn't. Couldn't take a knife to the cute little guy's guy.

During both pregnancies (before knowing we were having girls) Preacher and I decided that we would no more circumcise our boys than our girls. It just seemed grossly unnecessary. I understand the arguments - some are legit, some are archaic and some are fear-mongering (on both sides). Ultimately it came down to our gut response.

With both of ours, we didn't know if we were having a boy or girl. when Squirrel was born, we hadn't made our final decision, and were going to make a "game time decision" on it. When I was pregnant with Baby Boy, we made the decision somewhere around week 32...

We cut but without any pressure from our doctor for whom cultural mores dictate not circumcising. He did present us with both sides of info and at the time, and maybe it's still this way, the science pointed to reduced rates of STDs and cancer. We did not feel strongly either way, though.
