(JessFinds) Hoarding as a passtime

I just read this article on the Wall Street Journal (online):

What do you think? Is this part of our culture of fear or is this reasonable? I am definitely thinking about the rising costs and wondering if I should get a bulk membership. We have Sam's Club and BJ's out here. But do those really save that much? I am also stymied by the coupon cutter's obsession. I have never been a couponer But I hear stories all the time about people getting $100 worth of groceries for $15 and I think...maybe I should become one of those crazy couponers?

I admit I have become a bit of a classic consumer. I buy my cheese pre-shredded not out of laziness but because it reflects how little time I actually have in my average day. So, perhaps it is time to retrain myself? Get out that cheese grater, make my own tortillas and perhaps (gasp) buy my lettuce by the head rather in the pre-washed bags?

I am very excited by the news that we will have our first Farmer's Market in our area starting this July and it will run through September.

How do I get back to the kitchen? Maybe I should get my kitchen finished and actually unpacked before I get too gung-ho.

Is your grocery bill on the way to being out-of-control? What decisions are you making to cut costs OR do you even bother?
