(JessFinds) Crying at the party

Happy Birthday Baby Gonzo!

One year ago today, a healthy 10 lb 2.5 oz little girl joined the family ranks. She is my sunbeam. I have had so much fun her first year and I am excited to help her through toddlerhood. Speaking of, she stood up today, not holding on to anything-- which is not a new thing - but usually she topples over after a second or so. Today, she just stood. Big grin on her face, two teeth jutting out proudly. And about 20 seconds later, lowered herself down.

I have to admit I am a bit sad. It seemed like this year flew by.

I am also feeling a little hormonal and silly. I would have liked an atta-boy. I don't know what it is about children's birthdays. It is just a bit melancholy.  I would have liked a flower. A pat on the back. A "hey - you are doing a great job as a mom" A birthday is as much about the mom as it is about the kid! I have burned my candle at both ends the last few years, dedicating myself to my kids while trying to maintain my identity. It is nice when someone recognizes it. Not that moms do it for the recognition, I think most of us do it out of primal instinct.

Gals, marry the man that sends your mom flowers on your birthday or calls her and thanks her for having you. I don't think I will approve of anyone my daughters date until that happens! Like I said, I am being hormonal and silly.

The baby phase is almost over and I will miss it. I am not going to nurse any more babies and that, in itself, makes me a bit sad. So, I will write web content and be a bit weepy for my own benefit tonight!

Atta-girl for all the good work you do raising your beautiful daughters. Come to think of it, Jesse didn't do anything for me on Patrick's birthday. Hmm. We will have to talk to our husbands about this shortcoming ;-)

Like I said, that's why God invented girlfriends. I am so proud of you for being such a great Mommy! Those girls adore you. Sending you a BIG hug xo, Rayray

Ahh.... the the thing that has been getting me lately is that Super Squirrel won't remember this sweet snuggly time. We had a great night last night just cuddling and giggling and playing before bed... and she won't ever have a clue. :(

I'm not sure there could be more fab parents than you and your crazy, yet wonderful, spouse. And, I can honestly say nearly 15 years into this parenting adventure (jeez, I feel old..) that as each phase passes, and I think, "Oh, I'm going to miss that..." something else comes along that amazes/delights/frightens/puzzles me. And, even boys who have long hair and ridiculously deep boys still hug their mother, so all is not fleeting...

um, that would be "deep voices." must be the lack of heat in the house freezing my brain cells...
