(JessFinds) Good Help

As many all'yall know I have been a bit in the bad place recently. Too much on my plate. I have always considered myself a professional plate spinner but recently the plates have been crashing around me. Nobody is getting the best of me. Generally I would call it "icky."

I took on a work project that was way beyond the scope of what I could commit to at half-time. So I made a proposal (last Thursday) that I go to work full-time temporarily for the next 4-6 weeks and knock out this project that has been my albatross. Unfortunately, it means I am trying to hire a nanny NOW.  Preacher is on for coverage today. MIL will cover tomorrow. And Wednesday? Well, Wednesday I need Mary Poppins.

I have networked like mad, calling everyone I know for possible leads. I joined Sitter City and it is a great resource. It is about $80 for an annual membership and you can post jobs as you need them. I have received a few qualified leads through that service and hope to meet with one of them today or tomorrow. We are incredibly careful though - I plan to meet in a neutral location for first meetings and even though Sitter City screens applicants, we will run a background check. I will be working from a home office 85% of the time, so I will be in the same house with the new nanny. That lifts some of my worries.

Are you dedicated to in-home help, or have you looked at daycare facilities? If you can find one without a wait list, you could start out at full time and then switch to part time when your schedule goes back to part time. Allow you some undistracted work time. We did 3 days a week for a long time, and a lot of places we talked to had a two day a week option. Good luck! Finding quality care takes a while.
