I am getting ready to head to the Pacific Northwest with Baby Gonzo. I am trying to pack both of us in to one suitcase, which is challenging. Especially since I plan to do a little tax free shopping. Maybe I will buy another suitcase when I am out there...? There is a Hanna Andersson outlet...
Going anywhere solo with a baby is all about careful editing. One stroller, one carseat and one bag. We own a Joovy Caboose stroller - it has a jump seat of sorts on the back for Miss Crab. But when Miss Crab is not using it, it could be used to help wheel gear. Like a suitcase. Or a carseat. So I am taking the big stroller even though it is just one babe to transport. I am also packing one carefully edited backpack / diaper bag.
And have you heard the latest advice about flying? Swipe neosporin on the inside of your nostrils. Helps keep it (a) moist and (b) boosts the ability to kill airborne yukies. Don't know if the medical advice behind it is sound, but I am willing to try anything. I always get sick after flying.
I am trying to be chipper (hee) but my body is still in bad shape from the thyroid issue. I am going with a pile of painkillers!
UPDATE: I am one week past the return flight and I have NOT (knock on wood) been ill at all. So maybe there is something to the neosporin in the nostrils? Someone even stood up behind me and coughed directly down in to my airspace. I know that Airborne has been proven to be bunk, so I am holding out for this cure-all. Positive thinking, right? Plus, I get to write the word "moist" in a blog entry - and that just makes me laugh.
